Andie

Founder: Melanie Travis

Melanie came up with the idea for Andie when she was going on a work retreat and needed a swimsuit that wasn't a bikini. She searched the internet for hours and came to the realization that there weren't many brands out there creating flattering one-pieces for the everyday woman (most that she found were specifically made for sports). When talking to family and friends about her disappointing swimwear shopping experience, she found that her frustration was shared. Melanie decided to float her idea for a swimwear brand selling stylish one-pieces and offering an at-home try-on system on Insta. She received an overwhelming positive response, so she decided to quit her job and start Andie.

Andie is a swimwear brand selling one-pieces and bikinis direct-to-consumer. The company lets customers order as many styles as they like with unlimited free returns within 15 days and free shipping both ways. Andie is on a mission to design swimwear with fabric, cut, details, and a try-on experience that is comfortable, enjoyable, and created for the modern woman of any shape and size. It also has fit resources, such as the Fit Guide, Fit Quiz, and Fit Experts available on its ecommerce site.

“When we think about swim fit, it’s about so much more than measuring waist, hips, bust. What is our customer going to be doing? Is she going to feel beautiful, confident, sexy? And what do those things mean to different women? Maybe not surprisingly, a majority of the swimwear brands out there are actually run, and owned, by men.” - Melanie
