Founders: Danielle DuBoise and Whitney Tingle
Danielle and Whitney came up with the idea for Sakara when they realized that they were at their lowest points and decided to turn their "mess into their mission". Both women were living in NYC and had developed bad relationships with food. Danielle was struggling with her body image and was hospitalized after a 21-day water and raw food fast, and Whitney was on Wall Street working crazy hours, eating poorly, and dealing with chronic cystic acne. They noticed that they were not honoring and loving their bodies, so they decided to address their health concerns. After doing a lot of research, reading, and talking to experts, Danielle and Whitney agreed that using food as medicine was the solution they were seeking. They created a nutrition protocol, delivered meals to friends on bicycles, and set out to spread the message of Sakara to as many people as possible.

"Don’t focus on what you feel you need to eliminate, but instead pivot your attention towards adding in more of the good stuff." - Danielle
